How to configure database for Standalone License

At the end of installation, you will be prompted to keep the database on a location of your choice. If you cancel this action, then when you start the software, you will be prompted to select the database file. The default database file, is installed with the software and is under AppData folder in the installed location. For e.g. if you have not customized the installation location, then the software will be installed in “C:\Program Files (x86)\FIMMTECH\Nautilus 8”, and the database will be in the folder “AppData”.

How to configure database for Network License

It is recommended that for the network license, the database should be kept in a shared drive and access should be given to all the users of Nautilus. The database location can be configured, through Nautilus menu OPTIONS-> Database Path.

Where can I find Nautilus version:

You can check the license information and the version information on Home screen of the software.

Nautilus is not able to locate the database.

If you are prompted to select the database at the first time use, then select the database from the installation location in AppData folder. So for e.g. if the software is installed in “C:\Program Files (x86)\FIMMTECH\Nautilus 8” then look for folder named as AppData under this location.

If you are regular user of Nautilus and suddenly the software prompts you to select the database, then please check if the database location configured earlier is available and the database file exists. Check if the permission to the folder and file is given as full rights. Check with your Administrator if the file has been moved to another location.

Nautilus is not able to connect to License Manager

To connect to License Manager, there are two requirements, the computer where the license manager is installed should be working and in the same network. Second, the port on which the license manager is configured should be added as an exception in the firewall or antivirus to allow incoming connections.

Nautilus is not able to activate the software.

If you have the activation key and the software is not able to activate it, then please check if the machine id you sent for activation is correct or not. Sometimes, because of the security, you may need to run the Nautilus as an administrator. To do this, right click on the Nautilus desktop shortcut and choose Run as administrator.

If you don’t see the Machine id, you may need to install the again with full admin rights.

How and when to backup of Database?

It is highly recommended to take the backup of the database. Based on your usage, you can choose the frequency of the backup, but once in a month should be good. You can find the location of the database on the home screen of the software. Please take the entire backup of the folder for e.g., AppData and save it in a safe location. You can also keep the database on a mapped network drive where the automatic backups are taken.

The software suddenly started giving errors.

Though this is very rare, if you start experiencing that the software is giving lot of errors, it is likely that the database is corrupted. In this case, you can restore the backed-up database or you can send it to us.

The software is prompting the database is of an older version.

If you are using an old / backed up database, then the software will prompt you to tell you that the database is old. In this case you can rerun the update utility and the database will be fixed.
